Summer Fun Away From The Sun

Summertime is approaching fast! With only one week of school left, kids are restless to run around and play. This also means that moms and babysitters alike will have their hands full! (Speaking of moms, Happy Belated Mother’s Day!!!)

With painfully hot days coming, the pool is not always an option. Kids will need activities that keep them busy and burn their energy, while making it easy for you to get stuff done.  I will provide links to blogs that have some of the best indoor activities for the kids, and you! (Also, they will be virtually mess free!)

Balloon Tennis

Most everyone has one or two spare paint sticks or rulers. Those same people most likely have some balloons too (A MUST HAVE). How about a paper plate? If you have these three things and glue, you have the perfect supplies for balloon tennis.(One person even used fly swatters!) It is a super fun way to keep the kids busy, while keeping the house clean.

Marshmallow Shooters

Ok, so this one might be just a bit more messy. That’s ok. As long as the kids eat- I mean clean their mess up. Also, you can have them shoot alternative things, like pom poms. They are super simple, easy, and only (again) require four materials. If you have balloons, cups, marshmallows, and scissors, you’re all set! (Seriously though, if you don’t already have balloons, get some.)

Marshmallow Structures

Kids, (especially older ones) will absolutely love this activity. Who doesn’t love marshmallows? (Another must have) And what kid doesn’t love getting a little sticky? With marshmallows and toothpicks, your kids can have a blast creating their own structures. You can even challenge them with a certain structure from history! (The Colosseum, perhaps?) Have your kids enjoy this quiet, yet yummy activity, on a hot summer day!

Finger Knitting

Similar to straw weaving, finger knitting is a super simple way for kids to have some useful quiet time. It can also be used as a way to occupy kids if you are on a road trip. This activity is super easy, cheap, and fun. If you have yarn, scissors, and fingers, you’re all set! Even Younger kids may have fun doing this spectacular pastime.

Beach Ball Games

As a last activity, but certainly not least, beach ball games are a super exciting way for the kids to get their wiggles out.  This activity may require a little more effort on your part. A short trip to the dollar store, and maybe some prep. But these beach ball games are the perfect way to get your kid’s energy out, while keeping them in.

From knitting on fingers, to tossing a ball around, kids (and parents) will positively adore the activities on this page. Do these on any given day, and I assure to you that you will not regret it. Goodbye for now, and Happy Babysitting!!!

Summer Boredom Busters

Hey everyone! It’s been a while. Christmas and New Years are long gone! It is now spring. This means that the days of popsicles, skinned knees, and childhood memories are just around the corner. It also means that heat waves, broken air conditioners, and cries of “I’m bored!” are close at hand.

When this time comes around, if you’re anything like me, you are not prepared to answer these cries of boredom. Since at some point, it is inevitable that you should run into this complaint, I have compiled a list of activities that both you and the kids can enjoy.

Paper Flowers

The first activity that I have for you is one of my Mom’s favorites. She recalled to me how, growing up, they visited Mexico. She told me of the paper flowers she so loved to collect. They are an easy craft, that require minimal materials and a love of crafting. The link down below will take you straight to the blog that created an easy to follow tutorial.

Clothespin Dragonflies

This next craft is an extremely simple, engaging craft. you could even put a fun twist on it, and make clothespin butterflies.

Story Stones

The third boredom buster that I have in mind is something that is less of a craft, and should be prepared beforehand. It is creativity inducing, and improves children’s storytelling skills. Also, it should keep the kiddos occupied for at least enough time to get something done without being too preoccupied with them. (They are sweet, but sometimes you need a break from your babysitting).

Sand and Rock Box

Sensory bins have always been a favorite of mine to pin on Pinterest and such. But I have never really had the time to make one. This one in particular has materials that can be found in pretty much anyone’s backyard or home. It also feels less like a sensory activity, and more like a boredom buster.;)

Ice Excavation Activity

There were hundreds of links for ice excavation, and I chose one that will give you the general idea. Instead of bags you can use cups, and rather than dinos use ponys. The possibilities are endless for this virtually free, cool summer activity.

That about wraps up my post on easy, fun summer crafts and activities, that both you and the kiddos will love.

Happy Babysitting!!!

Why I started a blog

Hi everyone! So, I know everything isn’t very well laid out yet and I understand if you have some complaints. If you have any questions or concerns, or just like what you see, please let me know in the comments section down below.

I love to write. And that’s a big reason why I started this blog. I also love to babysit, (not just for the money), because I love kids. Yes, they can be slimy and sticky, bratty and loud. But they can be sweet and fun too. Babysitting gives you a chance to get down to their level, and just be a kid for a while.

I started this blog to show teens (such as myself), and other babysitters that babysitting can be a very fun, and enjoyable thing for both the kids and the babysitter.

Have you ever had to babysit, but just been too tired?  Check out a game that the kiddies and you will both love!! The kids can get their wiggles out, while all you have to do is applaud them when they’re done. Feel like baking, but not making messes? Find an easy recipe that is almost effortless to bake, and clean up. The kids can help, and you will have a delicious treat to enjoy afterward. Finally, I will also post, so you can read all about my many adventures in babysitting.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, and come back later for more on The Babysitting Blogger.

Happy Babysitting!!!;)
